Amita Sen, in her book ‘Shantiniketane Aashramkonya’, has quted her mother, Kiranbala Sen, wife of Khsitimohan Sen, saying –
… Sometimes Gurudev used to tender home-made sweets on a plate and present them to my children. He had composed a song ‘Ei To Bhaalo Legechhilo …’ while staying in the new apartment. He had said while singing this song –
Your Amita has been sitting in front of my apartment collecting pebbles in a can and then pouring them on her head. This picture has been reflected in my lyric ‘Chhoto meye dhulay bose khelar saaji aapni saajay’.
My daughter Amita was then two and half years old. …
Later on whenever elderly Amita was felicitated at Shantiniketan this song was sung. Even when the news came that Amartya Sen, her son, has achieved the Nobel Prize, this song was sung for his felicitation at Aamrokunjo.
