The book 'Rabindra sangeet bichitra' written by Shantidev Ghosh contains information about this song as referred to in Atulprosad Sen's writing -
... An association named 'Kham-kheyali sabha' was formed in 1896 under the leadership of him (Rabindranath) to nurture contemporary literature and music. I was the youngest member of the team. ... Radhikanath [prosad], the famous singer used to entertain us by his classical songs containing highly complicated patterns. Rabindranath was such an exquisitely talented person that he used to readily pen down a verse for the melody he has just heard and Radhikanath [prosad], used to readily sing the song to us. This song 'Maharaj e ki saaje ele ...' happens to be one such song I remember.
