At an early age of three years, she started learning music from her mother who is a Visharad in Vocal music & Rabindrasangeet. She joined Tripura Rabindra Parishad at the age of five, where she regularly topped in all the yearly exams. Later, she continued her training under Guru Lt. Sri Samir Kanti Das.

Debaleena completed her graduation in dentistry (B.D.S.) from Govt. Regional Dental College, Guwahati. During her stay, she continued her music lessons under Late Sri Dilip Sarma. Recently, she has completed her post-graduation in dentistry (M.D.S.) during which she continued her lessons in Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh for a brief period. She also took training from renowned singer Smt. Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta and renowned vocalist Smt. Alpana Roy for a short period.

Awards And Recognitions:

1996 – Won 1st prize in solo singing organized by Chhandaneer, a prestigious institute of the state. In the same year, she won many state level competitions organized by Tripura Rabindra Parishad.

1998 – Passed Visharad Part II in Vocal Music.

2000 – Awarded Talent 2000 for securing 1st place in solo singing in Inter-school Jubilee competition organized by Holy Cross School.

2001 – Received Bankim Memorial Award for securing 1st/2nd place in six selected cultural events including Rabindrasangeet at State level competition.

2002 – Passed 5th year in Rabindrasangeet in First division.

2005 – Received Gold Medal for securing First place in First division with Distinction in Practical in 7th year Annual Examination 2003-2004 of the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, West Bengal & was awarded SANGEET RATNA in recognition of merit, the first one in the state.

2005 – Recipient of National Scholarship in Rabindrasangeet for two years (2005-07) from the Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India).

2011 – Received Gold Medal for securing First place in First division with Distinction in Practical in 8th year Annual Examination 2009-2010 of the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, West Bengal & was awarded SANGEET PRABAR in recognition of merit, again the first one in the state.

2012 – Received Debabrata Ghosh Memorial Award for the best young artist of the state.

She has performed in various national and international platforms including Dhaka, Bangladesh and also in various TV channels.

Apart from singing she is also a Visharad in Painting & Rabindranritya and is trained in Bharatnatyam. She has received many awards in painting during her school life.

Debaleena is an approved artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan Kendra, Agartala in Rabindrasangeet & Adhunik songs since 2003 & 2011 respectively.
