Srikanttho Singha was a family friend of Tthakurbari. He had tried to potray Srikanttho Singha in his novel, ‘Boutthakuranir Haat’. In his ‘Jibansmriti’ he had declared –
… I had tried to potray this old friend of my childhood as Basontoraay. …
Rabindranath, in his childhood, had listened to a song ‘Kayse kaatongi rayan, so piya bina…’ from him. In the storyline he had included the song to be sung by Basontoraay. Later he had composed a Brahma-sangeet on the theme of this song. Shantidev Ghosh in his memoir ‘Rabindrasangeet’ says –
… I have often heard Gurudev singing a song, ‘Kayse katongi rayan, so piya bina …’.
Based on this song he had composed a Brahma-sangeet, ‘Timiro bibhabori kaate kemone…’ . Another song was composed when, of late, ‘Shaapmochan’ was written; ‘Hey birohi haay chanchal hiya tabo …’.
