Notes: Bisarjan – the drama written by was staged at the New Empires Theatre on 25th, 26th and 27th August 1923, where Rabindranath himself portrayed the role of Joysingha and Dinendranath that of Raghupati. Sahana Debi, niece of Chittaranjan Das, had sung songs in the program. Rabindranath was particularly fond of the singing talent of Sahana Debi. He has expressed that in Jibonsmriti –
… My songs come out triumphant whenever you sing my songs – those songs contain myself as well as Jhunu by equal parts. The resulting union is eagerly awaited for by the composer. Had I been an emperor of the bygone days I would have fought, captured and captivated you because my songs sincerely need your voice. …
Sahana Debi browses through her memory in Smritir Kheya –
… I had visited the fifth building of Jorasanko in the evening soon after I had heard about the preparation of Bisarjan. Rabindranath glanced on me and he was quick to decide that he would make me sing a few songs for this drama and immediately started composing new songs. He was honestly relieved when he knew that I had picked the song 'Din Phuralo Hey Sannyasi…' from my Masima (Amala Das). Incidentally, this song was known to Amala Das only and she had picked it from a Shehnai concert at a marriage party. He was more than pleased as it ended his anxiety of this song to face a premature fading. He soon arbitrated to make me sing this song for Bisarjan. I can still visualize brighter expressions of his eyes – 'Oh! You know the song? Got it from Amala? That's great. Nobody knew the song but Amala.'
In the same book she has mentioned about the recording she had done for Centenary celebration with Rabindra Bharati.
