Notes : This song was published in the year 1877 in the Nov edition of Bharati. Prior to his journey to England for the first time this song was written while his brief stay with his elder brother (Mej-dada), Satyendranath Tagore at Ahmadabad. This is one of the earliest songs of Rabindranath. Satyendranath used to stay in a palatial Shahibag building, an accommodation provided by the government. This song had a heading 'Golapbala (Golaper proti bulbul)' and raag indication 'Behag'. Reference of this song is found in Jibonsmriti -

This song had gained a good popularity at least within Thakurbari. Gunendranath Tagore, father of Abanindranath Tagore would ask Rabindranath to sing the song while Jyotirindranath would accompany him on the harmonium. This reference was found in Ghoroa a biography written by Abanindranath. He also explains how much Thakurbari used to favour this song and particularly how often requests would follow for it.
