Raag: Behag

Written on: 1887

Published in: 'Bharati O Balak', Boishakh, 1294

Collection: Gaaner Bohi

Notes: On request from Prof. Prasanna Kr. Roy this song was written for the College students' meet at Calcutta. The song was sung by Gurudev along with another one "Tabu Parine Sapite Pran" on the occasion of Easter on 10th April 1887. Samir Sengupta comments on this song - That, while dealing with songs written on request and lacking in motivation his writings often fell short of vivacity, is clear from these two songs. Two more stanzas were there in the first edition of the song which were later omitted.

Aage chal aage chal bhaai
Pore thaaka pichhe, more thaaka michhe
Bneche more kiba phal bhaai
Aage chal aage chal bhaai
Prati nimishei jeteche samoy
Din khan cheye thaaka kichhu noy
Samoy samoy kore pnaaji pnuthi dhore

Maanober saathe jog dite habe
Taa jodi naa paaro cheye dekho tabe
Oi aachhe rasaatal bhaai
Aage chal aage chal bhaai.
